In RV terms, it’s a storage compartment that extends unhindered through the width of the RV. Benefit #1… Unhindered Storage Space From left to right, from driver side to passenger side, from port to starboard side, no matter what term you use, there’s no walls to hinder what you decide to store. Benefit #2… Storing Longer Items is a Breeze If you’re love fishing, you’ll love an RV with pass through storage. Mostly because of the convivence that you don’t have to break down your poles to head out to the water. Or if you need to take a quick jaunt into town, you have an easy and lockable place to store your poles or long nets when you leave. If you’re a kayaker, if the height and width of the door is too small for your kayak, then the length of the pass through storage can easily hold you oars. Hunters, ladder for tree stands. You may have to do some due diligence on the length of ladders and the platforms of the stand gear but storing your ladder in a lockable compartment can give you an ease of mind. Tiki torches, poles for awnings or other shelters, various ladders, long ice chests, long camping barbeques…whatever you have that is long, can be easily stored in a pass through storage space. Author’s note here though… If you have specific long items in mind to store in a pass through storage space but don’t have an RV yet, consider the measurements of your item when shopping for your RV. The 10 foot ladder most likely isn’t going to fit in an 8 foot long space. So please do your dimensional diligence. Benefit #3…Tight Parking When you’re storing your RV, parking it in your garage, or parking it close to the side of your home or other building, access to the side closest to the wall of the garage or building may be difficult. Hence, not only a tight squeeze to get in, but opening the door of the storage compartment may be difficult if not impossible. With pass through storage you can access the entirety of the storage compartment from one side. Sure, you may have to dig through a few items to get a box at the other end, but it can be done without hooking up, or firing up the RV to pull it out just a few feet to get access to a storage compartment.
